Exploring Your Medicare Options

As you approach your 65th birthday, it’s time to enroll in Medicare. Once you begin the enrollment process, you might find yourself surprised at how many different insurance options are available to you! These options are also available to you each year thereafter, during Medicare’s annual open enrollment season (also call the Annual Election Period).

Medicare Advantage plans allow very low, or often zero, premiums. You will use a network of doctors and facilities, and these options can vary depending upon the plans available in your area. Many people choose these plans due to their affordability and ease of use.  Depending upon where you live, a large number of Medicare Advantage plans might be available to you.

Medicare PPO plans allow you to visit any doctor of your choice, at any time. But the trade-off is that you will pay a premium for this type of service. If you prefer more control over your health care, and don’t mind paying a bit more out of pocket, Medicare PPO plans might appeal to you.

The important thing to remember is that you can choose from a wide variety of options within Medicare. And, as your needs or budget change from year to year, you can change your plan to match your preferences.  It’s not so simple as just signing up and forgetting about it!

So, come see us as your enrollment date approaches, and we will help you weigh your options and decide which type of Medicare plan is right for you, right now. We can also help you anticipate your needs in the future, and make other important decisions regarding your retirement plan.
